Maverick & Farmer Coffee launches Friends of the Farmer brew sessions

Maverick & Farmer announces the first edition of its Friends of the Farmer brew sessions that aim to spotlight the remarkable work and produce of farmers from the local coffee community. Taking place at the Ulsoor cafe, this edition will host farmer Lynn Mascarenhas from St Margaret Estate. The featured single-estate coffee will also be retailed at outlet cafes and online for a period of two months.
The sessions, curated by co-founder and farmer, Tej Thammaiah, Maverick & Farmer Coffee, serve as a platform for farmers within their community to exhibit their innovative and exceptional produce, with a particular focus on those who possess a maverick approach to farming.
Attendees will have the chance to engage in hands-on brewing, guided by the farmers and accomplished experts. The debut session will use Yeast Ferment Naturals from Lynn’s estate using a French Press and a Pour-over. Attendees will explore nuanced flavour profiles during this coffee-tasting session paired with pass-around snacks over conversations with Lynn.
This event promises to be an enriching experience, fostering a stronger connection between farmers, coffee enthusiasts, and the wider community, to create a beneficial ecosystem. The focus on quality and the process of extracting the best flavours from the beans will be unveiled, ensuring that participants leave with newfound knowledge, skills and an unforgettable journey of exploration and appreciation for craftsmanship.
Thammaiah said, “We have a lot of farmers from the coffee-producing community who we work with regularly. With this initiative, we would like to narrate their stories and highlight the unique flavour profiles they present. This is our curation for Friends of the Farmer.”
