MoFPI and ASSOCHAM organise tenth International Food Processing Summit

The ministry of food processing industries (MoFPI), Government of India, in association with the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM)recently organised the tenth International Food Processing Summit and Awards, 2017 – Food Retail, Investment and InfrastructureinNew Delhi.
The programme was inaugurated by Giriraj Singh, minister of state for micro, small and medium enterprises.
Other dignitaries present at the inaugural session wereAshish Bahuguna, chairperson, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI); K Amarendra N Singh, director-advisory, Grant Thornton LLP; P K Jain, chairman, ASSOCHAM Council on Food Processing and Value Addition; Sandeep Jajodia, president, ASSOCHAM, Vikas Jain, joint managing director, PMV Nutrient Products Pvt Ltd, and D S Rawat, secretary general, ASSOCHAM.
The following bagged awards:
- Best Food Safety Award – Godfrey Phillips India Limited – Tea Division
- Best Food Safety Award – Godfrey Phillips India Limited – Chewing Division
- Best Food Retail Award – Haldiram Group of Companies
- Best Food Machinery/Equipment Award – Dr Oetker India Pvt Ltd
There was participation of about 200 various stakeholders from public and private sector banks, technology providers, farmers producers’ organisations, self-help groups, agro-business companies, retailcompanies, food processing units, etc.
The event was supported by MoFPI, Coconut Development Board (CDB), Monnet, PMV Group and the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM).
A knowledge report, titled Food Processing Sector: Challenges and growth enablers, was jointly prepared by ASSOCHAM and Grant Thornton LLP. It was released at the event by Singh.
