The Madhya Pradesh Food Safety Department has suspended the registration of a Food Business Operator (FBO) in the Jabalpur and Neemuch districts, after a targeted enforcement drive.
This action followed a series of inspections that revealed serious lapses in contravention of the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act.
The state department launched this special enforcement initiative after receiving multiple complaints regarding the quality and safety of food being served in these regions.
?As per reports, during the raids, food safety teams uncovered a wide spectrum of violations, ranging from minor hygiene issues to critical safety risks.
One of the most 'serious' findings involved the improper storage of food, where vegetarian and non-vegetarian items were being kept in the same refrigerator, posing a high risk of cross-contamination.
Furthermore, FSOs discovered that several outlets were utilising expired products, specifically barbecue sauces and syrups, in their daily operations.
?In addition to the immediate suspension of the FBO, authorities have intensified their scrutiny of basic food commodities.
More than 11 samples, including milk, ghee, edible oil, and pulses, were collected from various premises and sent for laboratory analysis.
