Union Health minister J P Nadda launched India’s Food Import Rejection Alert portal (FIRA) here on Friday.
According to MoH, this platform will facilitate the exchange of information on food import rejections.
"FIRA serves as an online alert notification platform for the public and relevant food safety authorities," reads a statement issued by the FSSAI.
Nadda launched FIRA on the occasion of Global Food Regulators Summit 2024 being organised at World Food India.
In his inaugural address, Nadda emphasised how the rapid globalisation, technological advancements & evolving consumer preferences are reshaping the food systems.
"This calls for collaboration, continuous innovation & strong commitments to improving food safety systems," he said.
He added that setting food standards, aligned with evolving food production, consumption trends and global trade, is key to consumer interests.
