Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu recently inaugurated the State Food Laboratory at Tirumala.
This Rs. 25 crore facility, funded by the FSSAI, marks a milestone as the first temple-proximate laboratory of its kind in India.
?The laboratory, spanning 12,000 square feet, is designed to ensure the absolute purity of the world-famous Srivari Laddu and Annaprasadam.
Following the 2024 ghee adulteration controversy, this facility provides a robust shield against contamination, shifting detection capabilities from parts per million (PPM) to a microscopic parts per trillion (PPT).
As per FSSAI, the lab features French-made 'E-Nose and E-Tongue' machines. These simulate human senses to detect even minute variations in the aroma and taste profiles of ghee and other raw materials.
Further to eliminate human error and fraud, lab reports are integrated with 'Blockchain Technology'. This ensures that every test result is 100% transparent, immutable, and tamper-proof.
The lab is equipped to test 18,000 samples annually, and monitors over 60 varieties of ingredients, including pulses, spices, and dairy.
