NASF announces three finalists for Sustainability Award 2026
Tuesday, 17 February, 2026, 16 : 00 PM [IST]
Bergen, Norway
The North Atlantic Seafood Forum (NASF) has unveiled the three finalists for the prestigious NASF Sustainability Award 2026, recognising outstanding contributions to sustainability across the global seafood industry. The award aims to spotlight companies and initiatives that have embedded sustainability into the core of modern corporate strategy and operations.

Despite being a relatively new initiative, this year’s award attracted seven strong nominations, reflecting robust engagement from across the seafood value chain. Following a comprehensive evaluation process, the jury shortlisted three finalists: the Seafood Carbon Emissions Profiling Tool (SCEPT), Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), and Veramaris.

SCEPT is a climate-focused initiative designed to measure and profile carbon emissions throughout the seafood value chain, enabling companies to make data-driven decisions to reduce emissions and improve environmental performance.

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), an international non-profit organisation, sets globally recognised standards for sustainable fishing and operates a widely respected certification and ecolabelling programme for wild-capture fisheries.

Veramaris produces marine omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) derived from microalgae, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional fish oil used in aquaculture feed, thereby reducing pressure on wild fish stocks.

The jury panel for the 2026 award includes Minna Epps of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Johan Frostrup of Debio, and Øyvind Ihle of Claritas Consulting.

The winner will be announced at the NASF Sustainability Summit on March 3 at NASF 2026 in Bergen. Industry stakeholders are expected to gather in large numbers to celebrate innovation and continued progress in seafood sustainability.
