The two-day ‘National Conference on Agriculture – Rabi Campaign 2025’ concluded in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare & Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Agriculture Ministers and senior officials from various States participated in the conference and held in-depth deliberations across multiple sessions on strategies to advance agricultural development.

In his concluding remarks, Chouhan categorically stated that the sale of spurious or substandard fertilisers, seeds, and pesticides would not be permitted under any circumstances. He further informed that stringent laws are being prepared to deal with those engaged in such malpractices. Emphasising the responsibility of governments to protect farmers from such exploitation, he sought active cooperation from all States in this endeavour.

The Union Minister highlighted ongoing efforts to make Kisan Call Centres more effective, and emphasised the need for robust mechanisms at the State level to ensure their impact. He reiterated that Government is committed to delivering full justice to farmers through timely redressal of their grievances, affirming that farmers’ interests remain paramount for Government. He also urged States to intensify efforts to expand the coverage of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) so that more farmers may benefit from the scheme.

Chouhan also emphasised the importance of strengthening Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and State agricultural extension systems across the country, terming them vital for disseminating knowledge and advancing modern agricultural practices.

The minister called upon States and Agriculture Ministers to extend their full support to the upcoming Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, commencing from 3rd October 2025, which he described as a critical initiative for realising the “Lab to Land” vision.

Acknowledging the intensive deliberations held over the two days, Chouhan congratulated the State Agriculture Ministers and officials for their valuable contributions and expressed confidence that the outcomes would lead to significant gains in the forthcoming Rabi season.
