A new NABL-accredited laboratory under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 with approvals from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and Fertiliser Control will be inaugurated by Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines, Pralhad Joshi on September 10, 2025.
The facility is equipped with cutting-edge instrumentation including Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS), Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES), Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), enabling advanced testing and analysis.
Key areas of testing at the lab will include: Packaged drinking water and natural mineral water analysis; Food packaging material safety testing; Quality verification of construction materials; Coal, petroleum coke, and bitumen testing; Enamel paints and anti-skid products evaluation; Filtration media assessment.
In addition to providing commercial testing services, the laboratory will also support training, research, and collaborations with universities, engineering colleges, and industries.
Looking ahead, the lab plans to expand into fortified food testing covering wheat flour, maida, nuts, edible oils, vitamin-enriched salt, spices, and micronutrients. This will strengthen India’s food safety and quality infrastructure while supporting the country’s focus on nutrition and public health.
