Veganuary, the global movement encouraging people to try vegan for January and beyond, has kicked off its 2025, campaign with thought-provoking advertisements that question the conventional norms of food. The bold campaign uses startling imagery paired with the question weird? to spotlight some unsettling truths about familiar foods:

    • Cows produce milk to nourish their babies, just like human mothers.
    • Chickens are bred to grow so large that they often struggle to stand.
    • Sausages are made by stuffing pigs into their own intestines.
    • Over 16 million trees are destroyed daily for animal farming.

These striking ads will be featured across Veganuary’s global social media platforms, including its dedicated India channels. Adding to the momentum, celebrities have joined Veganuary 2025, as ambassadors, urging people to embrace veganism for a month. This year, the campaign will also spotlight an exclusive podcast with world-renowned mountaineer Kuntal Joisher, who shares his go-to vegan foods for building strength and endurance.

In 2024, approximately 1.3 lakh Indians officially participated in Veganuary, with many more exploring the free resources and plant-based recipes provided online. With increasing participation from brands, restaurants, retailers, and workplaces, Veganuary 2025, is poised to set new records.

Prashanth Vishwanath, Veganuary’s India head, said, “Most of us consider the food we grew up with as ‘normal,’ but when we examine the practices behind these foods, they start to seem a bit weird. Veganuary invites everyone to confront the realities of how our food choices affect animals and the planet and encourages them to try vegan for January to create a positive impact.”
