The global foodservice industry will take centre stage at SIGEP World 2026, scheduled to be held at the Rimini Expo Centre from January 16 to 20, as Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) unveils a series of special projects that map the sector’s ongoing transformation. Through thematic platforms such as Luxury Hotel Food Experience, Sustainability District, Innovation Bar, Gelato Meets Chains and Pizza (R)evolution, the event will examine how products, supply chains and business models are reshaping hospitality and out-of-home consumption worldwide.
In high-end hospitality, food has emerged as a strategic business driver rather than a support function. The Luxury Hotel Food Experience platform will spotlight how breakfast, catering and experiential dining are redefining the identity and positioning of premium hotels. Case studies and forums will highlight how food and beverage offerings can shift from cost centres to revenue engines, with catering contributing up to 40–50% of total revenues in some luxury establishments. A key highlight will be the Portrait Milano case study, winner of Best Breakfast at the Best Luxury Hotel Awards 2024, presented through immersive experiences and expert discussions.
Sustainability and origin-led storytelling will be at the heart of the Sustainability District, which focuses on cocoa and coffee supply chains. Featuring 21 cooperatives from six African countries along with Latin American producer organisations, the district promotes fair, transparent and market-oriented cooperation models. Supported by institutions such as ICE, IILA, the European Coffee Federation and leading universities, the platform will also explore regulatory, environmental and technological challenges shaping global supply chains.
Technology-driven change will define the Innovation Bar, where the future of the bar industry will be examined through super-automatic machines, artificial intelligence and emerging beverage technologies. Addressing labour shortages and evolving consumer expectations, the concept area will explore how automation and expertise can coexist, supported by insights from industry experts and specialty coffee professionals.
Italian icons will also take on a global business dimension. Gelato Meets Chains positions gelato as a scalable, high-margin product for international foodservice formats, while Pizza (R)evolution) presents pizza as a full-fledged industrial and entrepreneurial platform, connecting ingredients, equipment, training and global market opportunities. Together, these projects underline SIGEP World 2026’s role as a strategic hub for the future of foodservice, where innovation, sustainability and business vision converge on a global stage.
