Sorena in Bandra hosted ‘Unbrunch: The Art of an Unplanned Sunday’ on October 4, bringing together culinary influences from Mumbai, New York, Sicily, Tokyo and Istanbul across its two floors.

The Sunday afternoon experience featured live food stations, music, entertainment and interactive experiences, allowing guests to explore the venue at their own pace without a fixed dining format or route.

The culinary spread showcased flavours from the five cities. Mumbai featured favourites such as pani puri, pav bhaji, raj kachori and corn chaat, while Sicily offered freshly prepared pasta and pizza by the slice. Tokyo brought ramen, gyoza and okonomiyaki, while Istanbul featured hummus, baba ganoush, labneh, olives, souvlaki and Turkish grilled fish. The New York station served hot dogs, tacos, loaded nachos, smash burgers and deli-style sandwiches.

The experience extended beyond food, with live music, a DJ, an illusionist, artists, face painting and a dedicated kids’ corner. Guests could move between the two floors, explore different culinary stations and spend the afternoon across food, entertainment and social experiences.

The five-city concept was designed to reflect the culinary identity of Sorena. Mumbai highlighted street-food favourites and familiar flavours, Istanbul focused on mezze, grilled fish and sharing-style dishes, Tokyo presented Japanese-inspired offerings, New York brought street-food and comfort-food classics, while Sicily showcased live pasta and pizza stations.

Sumit Govind Sharma, Founder, Monarch Liberty Hospitality, said, “The best parts of the world’s great cities are rarely planned. You walk into a square and there’s food, music, people, movement and surprise - all happening at once, yet somehow it all comes together. That was the thought behind Unbrunch. We created the food, the music, the artists and the spaces, but the afternoon belonged to the guests.”

Kersi Marker, COO, Monarch Liberty Hospitality, said, “Unbrunch was our way of rethinking what a Sunday dining experience can look like. Rather than a fixed format, we wanted to give guests the freedom to explore across five culinary worlds and two floors, while experiencing food, music and entertainment in their own way.”

Through Unbrunch, Sorena positioned Sunday dining as an open-ended experience combining global cuisine, entertainment and social interaction, with guests free to shape their afternoon around the food and activities that interested them.
