Telangana food safety wing suspends Shadab Hotel license

In a major crackdown on unhygienic eateries, multi-agency enforcement teams under the newly formed Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) raided 19 popular cafes and snack points across the Core Urban Region of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
The special drive, conducted jointly by Food Safety Officers and police personnel, uncovered widespread statutory violations, including severe sanitation lapses, pest infestations, and the storage of expired or adulterated food stock.
The enforcement wing ordered the immediate closure of Dreamz Cafeteria in Bagh Lingampally and Asiatic Café in Panjagutta after inspection teams found both commercial establishments operating without valid FSSAI licenses. Officials halted operations on the spot, citing absolute non-compliance with statutory registration mandates.
In a dramatic move affecting one of the city's iconic dining hubs, authorities suspended the FSSAI license of Shadab Hotel at Madina. The management was directed to stop all commercial activity immediately following the discovery of severe hygiene failures, filthy storage conditions, and unsafe handling practices involving raw meat and other essential food ingredients.
During the extensive inspections, enforcement officers documented widespread non-compliance across the sector. Key violations included open dustbins in food preparation areas, unhygienic handling of ingredients by unmasked and bare-headed staff, active infestations of houseflies and cockroaches, non-display of mandatory food safety labels, and a total absence of staff health and pest control records.
Taking immediate corrective action, food safety officials discarded perishable food items exposed to dust and flies on the spot. In addition, 15 samples of daily staples, including tea powder, ginger-garlic paste, and biscuits, were formally seized under suspicion of adulteration and dispatched to central laboratories for chemical analysis.
Following the drive, the department issued improvement notices to 12 popular joints, including Nimrah Café (Alijha Kotla), Blue Sea Café, Café Persia, Deccan Café, Honeymoon Café, and Diamond Point Hotel, forcing them to rectify all operational deficiencies before mandatory reinspection. Meanwhile, formal show-cause notices were served to Golden Café, Mirosa Café, and others to initiate penalty proceedings under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
