The Telangana State Government is planning major reforms in food safety protocols for strengthening the food safety ecosystem. As per reports, the Food Safety Commissioner has proposed more stricter screenings and checks vis-a-vis food safety protocols.
The focus for these protocols would be around the Greater Hyderabad municipal area, as over 60% of the state food businesses are concentrated here.
The Government is reportedly mulling to overhaul the protocols across restaurants, street vendors and manufacturing and dairy units.
Further, the State Food Safety department would ensure that food businesses obtain licence or registration, as required, while the administration would have a record and data for any cross verification.
Additionally, new posts will be created in the food safety department wherein field officers will be posted across major hubs in the GHMC for better supervision along with multiple mini labs to handle the increasing volume of food sample analysis.
