Zorawar Kalra, founder and managing director, Massive Restaurants Pvt Ltd has opened the third Mumbai outlet of Farzi Cafe, the modern Indian bistro, at Oberoi Mall, Goregaon (East). It will serve lunch from noon onwards and dinner from 7pm onwards.
The chain was established with the objective of bringing Indian cuisine back in vogue for patrons of all ages and bagged numerous accolades since. Speaking at the opening of the outlet, Kalra, dubbed the Prince of Indian Cuisine, said, “The word Farzi can have many connotations.”
“But at Farzi Cafe, it has just one, that of creating an illusion with its cuisine. It is a first-of-its-kind Indian bistro concept, which extensively uses elements of molecular gastronomy, offering a gastronomic experience,” he added.
Kalra said that it was for all those who loved Indian food with their global favourites and wished to explore experiencing the next level of Indian cuisine. “The absolute adulation shown by our patrons, from India and overseas, for the efforts put in, behind the concept of Farzi Café is simply humbling,” he added.
“It is this faith, coupled with the demand, that has encouraged us to open the third outlet of Farzi Cafe in Mumbai for our patrons. We are confident that our guests would enjoy the freshness incorporated in the overall experience,” Kalra said.
An amalgamation of traditional Indian food with modern Indian flavours along with global cuisine, Farzi Café redefines Indian cuisine where culinary art meets the alchemy of modern presentations and cooking techniques like molecular gastronomy to absorb the guest into a unique Indian Bistronomie dining experience.
“Conceptualised to give an experience of dining under the large faux sunken boat surrounded by fluidic waves, Farzi Café, Oberoi Mall, Goregaon will show the homecoming in Mumbai with a fresh breeze of spatial design,” Kalra said.
“Parametric design methods and computational techniques have been used to design the waves, that symbolise a restaurant under the Mumbai sea,” he added.
“The bar area has been assembled piece-by-piece in timber boards to form a sculpted feature element that sits amid the space as a large monolithic hull,” Kalra said.
“The bar back is back-lit with warm LED lights filtering through acrylic screens to highlight the 100 precious bottles to be stored on the shelves,” he added, stating that demarcated areas have been formed for separate dining areas.
Farzi Café showcases a range of tapas-style dishes, an elaborate hoppers section, mains and desserts, with modernist culinary techniques, scientific methodologies and food trends.
The food menu has been curated by Saurabh Udinia, head chef, Massive Restaurants Pvt Ltd.
