The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA), Uttar Pradesh has rolled out a monthly schedule for its mobile food safety van in Lucknow to combat food contamination.
The initiative aims to raise public awareness while providing citizens and vendors with on-the-spot, preliminary testing facilities for everyday food and beverage items.
Under the new administrative roster, the mobile laboratory will cover all 23 designated food safety zones under the Lucknow Municipal Corporation from the 1st to the 23rd of every month.
Following the urban municipal drive, the van will shift focus to outlying regions. From the 24th to the 28th, the campaign will be carried out across the tehsils of Sadar, Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT), Mohanlalganj, and Malihabad, as well as the Cantonment area.
During these field deployments, food safety officials will perform instant quality checks on samples brought in by the public. Officials will also demonstrate practical techniques that consumers and local food business operators can use to identify common adulterants at home.
Assistant Commissioner (Food) Vijay Pratap Singh confirmed that the mobile unit kicked off its campaign on July 1 with an initial awareness camp in the Narhi locality.
