Uttarakhand deploys mobile labs along Char Dham Yatra as season set to begin

The Uttarakhand Government has officially deployed a specialised fleet of mobile laboratories and health units along the Char Dham Yatra routes to ensure the safety of pilgrims for the 2026 Yatra season scheduled to begin from third week of April.
Stationed at strategic transit points like Rishikesh, Barkot, and Sonprayag, these mobile labs are designed to provide immediate food safety testing before devotees ascend to the high-altitude sacred shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.
?As per reports, these mobile testing vans operated by the State Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) have already started conducting real-time analysis of essential supplies.
Reports add that these units are screening milk, cooking oils, spices, and pulses for common adulterants and synthetic additives at roadside dhabas and base camp kitchens.
Further, under the current action plan, officials have been authorised to issue on-the-spot fines and destroy substandard food stocks to prevent large-scale food poisoning incidents during the peak summer months.
