Zappfresh (DSM Fresh Foods Ltd.), a trusted fresh and frozen food brand known for its focus on quality and hygiene, has announced its entry into the frozen vegetarian ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook snacks segment with the launch of its new brand, Meevaa Foods. The move marks a strategic expansion into India’s fast-growing frozen foods category, backed by an investment plan of Rs 10 crore over the next two to three years.
Meevaa Foods debuts with a pilot portfolio of 12 frozen vegetarian products, with the company planning to expand the range every quarter based on consumer demand and category growth. The initial lineup includes popular snack and meal options such as samosas, momos, kebabs, patties, tikkis, spring rolls, and gravies, designed to offer restaurant-quality taste with modern food safety standards.
The frozen range will be available in Delhi NCR from February 9, followed by Mumbai and Bengaluru from March 1. All products are manufactured at export-certified facilities and are prepared fresh before being blast-frozen at –18°C in three stages, a process that helps retain taste, texture, and freshness while preventing bacterial growth. The products are free from MSG, preservatives, additives, and artificial food colouring.
Zappfresh stated that Meevaa Foods products have already been shipped to international markets including the US, Canada, and Saudi Arabia, and the same export-grade offerings are now being introduced for Indian consumers. Imports and exports are expected to contribute 15–20 percent of the company’s frozen food volumes.
Commenting on the launch, Deepanshu, managing director, Zappfresh, said consumers today seek convenience without compromising on quality. He added that the company’s recent acquisition in the frozen and processed foods segment enabled it to fast-track manufacturing and processing capabilities. The frozen range has been curated by Ambrozia, ensuring recipe consistency and strong product expertise.
Prreya Aggarwal, director, Zappfresh, highlighted that improvements in cold-chain infrastructure and evolving consumer habits are driving growth in the frozen foods category. She said Meevaa Foods aligns with the company’s long-term vision of building value-added food brands that cater to both domestic and export markets.
The products combine advanced food technology with traditional hand-crafted preparation, with hand-filled snacks delivering a fuller bite experience. The range is certified by FSSAI, USFDA, HACCP, Halal, and BRCGS, meeting global food safety standards.
With Meevaa Foods, Zappfresh continues to strengthen its footprint in value-added food categories while expanding across domestic and international markets.
