fiogf49gjkf0d The Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Tamil Nadu Technology Development and Promotion Centre (TNTDPC) would organise AgriCon 2014, the third edition of the conference on farm mechanisation and post-harvest technologies on December 19, 2014 at Hotel Hilton, Chennai.
With the increasing commercialisation of agriculture, farm mechanisation has been helpful in bringing about a significant improvement in agricultural productivity. The factors that justify the strengthening of farm mechanisation in the country can be numerous.
The present trend in agricultural mechanisation is for high-capacity machines through custom hiring and for contractual field operations. The pace of farm mechanisation in the country accelerated with the manufacture of agricultural equipment by the local industries.
However, the mechanisation of horticulture, plantation crops and commercial agriculture is yet to be introduced in India. This calls for developing appropriate technologies for mechanisation.
In this regard, the conference attempts to support this growth and understand the trends in farm mechanisation and post-harvest management. It aims to focus on key growth parameters like technology innovation, new products, new markets, next-generation technology and implications for allied industries.
The conference aims to cover four areas. The first session would be on water and soil management; the second would be on emerging technologies in mechanised agriculture, the third would be on post-harvest technology, and the fourth would be on smart farming concepts.
