'Forceful' intervention at Codex meet as India takes lead in developing stds

The Indian delegation led by CEO FSSAI is making a ‘forceful’ intervention at the 47th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC47) in Geneva, Switzerland, as India is taking lead in development of global standards.
According to FSSAI, the Indian delegation led by G Kamala Vardhana Rao, CEO, FSSAI, along with Rajiv Wadhawan, Advisor (Cost), MoHFW, and Dr Alka Rao, Advisor, FSSAI, is expected to make forceful interventions in line with the country’s objectives at CAC meet.
The FSSAI statement added that India is taking the lead in development of new global standards for health supplements, group standard for certain types of millets, guidelines on the prevention and control of food fraud and so on.
Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the WHO, inaugurated the conference in the presence of Steve Wearne, chairperson, CAC, and three vice-chairpersons, delegates belonging to food safety authorities of more than 150 countries.
