Ashwani Maindola, New Delhi
The FSSAI has decided to reduce the testing fee for analysis of food samples in all food categories for pan-India surveillance, which was being conducted by FSSAI headquarters.

"The testing fee is hereby reduced by 50% as quoted in the Order No. 12014/01/2020 dated November 3, 2021, and its corrigendum dated January 19, 2023, regarding the testing fee for all food categories," reads the order issued by the FSSAI.

The, GST on these rates, meanwhile, shall be applicable as per the orders of the Central Government, as amended from time to time.

According to Dr S K Panda, advisor, Quality Assurance, FSSAI, the food authority is authorised to collect, analyse, and summarise scientific and technical data on the incidence and prevalence of biological risks, food contaminants, residue levels of various contaminants, and emerging risks.

"To fulfil this mandate, FSSAI is exclusively conducting pan-India surveillance programmes on food products to gather data for food safety monitoring, risk assessment, identifying hotspots of adulteration, and setting standards. These nationwide surveillance activities are carried out extensively, with samples collected from both the organised and unorganised sectors across all districts in the 36 States/UTs," said Dr Panda.
